Welcome!

Chartwell is all about its children. On this website, you can find facts about the school, its organisation and ideals.

We are proud of our international, all-round, recognized education that is skills-focused and equips our children well for an unknown future. We are also proud of the modern teaching methods that stimulate the child’s enthusiasm to learn, of the small class sizes, and individual attention to pupils, and of committed teachers and a supportive atmosphere.

A big and warm welcome to all our new and old students!

Monday the 30th of August the new school year started with beautiful sunshine!

Community Engagement

Chartwell is a unique school in the way it puts emphasis on community awareness and out reaching to those less privileged.

The students explore the society in which they live, its history and working reality. Chartwell students also look beyond their own school community eg though cooperating with Anton Skola, a school for children with special needs. Common sports and other activities are often arranged between the two schools.

During the annual school events, such as The Summer Fair, the students raise money for Serbian children in need, refugees and Roma children. In the past the money donated has paid for school books, toys and Teaching materials, allowing those less well off to benefit from the effort of the students at Chartwell.

Affiliations

The major organizations of English-language schools outside of Britain are COBIS and ECIS. COBIS.pngCOBIS (Council of British Schools in the European Communities) now covers more than the EU area, while ECIS (European Council of International Schools) is worldwide.

ecislogo.pngThese organizations provide accreditation if the school principal and teachers are qualified and skilled and if the programme is professionally sound. Accreditation by one or more of these bodies provides a form of quality assurance. Chartwell is a full member of COBIS and looking into becoming a member of ECIS.

English language and other languages

The language of Chartwell International School is English. Chartwell provides a fully English language-based environment, and both staff and students are expected to speak only English on campus.

For students who do not have an adequate command of English, extra help is given and supplementary English classes offered.

Educational Programme

The school’s programme is an international one based on the British National curriculum.
The curriculum seeks a balance between the search for meaning and understanding, and the acquisition of essential skills and knowledge. It emphasizes interdisciplinary enquiry and the all-round development of students. It encourages the comparison of different cultural perspectives so as to develop critical thinking.

The content is drawn from the best of many national curricula, and taught through an international perspective similar to the International Baccalaureate approach.
